Customer Review: My dream grinder.

I bought this grinder for my father in November, 2007. He's been using it ever since without the slightest problem. I get to use it when I go to visit my folks. I have a DeLonghi at home, but I like the Krups MUCH better.
The main thing I love about it, compared to my DeLonghi, is that it really grinds exactly the amount of coffee needed for the number of cups you set it to. My father just keeps a random amount of beans in the top hopper, and hits the power button every morning to grind the right amount for a 10-cup pot. The top hopper also holds a lot of whole beans, and doesn't need to be refilled more than every week or two. It also has a very consistent grind, without lots of dust or too-large bits.
I also love the fact that the hopper for the ground coffee fits inside the machine, instead of sticking out in front. This makes the machine take up about half as much space as mine. It's also very easy to take it out and put it back, unlike the DeLonghi, which takes some finesse.
The plastic hopper for the ground coffee does, of course, have some static cling. However, the Krups never gets as messy as the DeLonghi, and the lid doesn't collect as much buildup. With the DeLonghi, I have to go through a whole process of banging the lid & sides with a spoon before I can open it without getting grounds everywhere. The Krups sometimes takes just a couple of taps.
The Krups machine doesn't seem to clog up as much, or require as much dis-assembly and cleaning as the DeLonghi.
Basically, this is my dream grinder, unless I win the Lotto. I've been watching the price for a very long time, waiting for it to come down low enough for me to justify buying one for myself. I might finally have an excuse, though. A friend of mine needs a burr grinder, and I could give him my old DeLonghi. LOL!
