Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Krups 049-33 Gold Tone FilterCustomer Review: Green alternative to the coffee filter! Summary: 5 StarsI love this filter. Just empty, wash, and REUSE. A small place to start for "going green." A little worried about the handle, seems a little flimsy-not a deal breaker though.
Customer Review: excellent coffee maker Summary: 4 StarsI like this coffee maker very much because it grinds and makes coffee. I used to buy Cuisinart coffee makers, which did a good job but didn't last very long before malfunctioning and needing replacement. I haven't had the Krups coffee long enough to know whether it will prove more durable than the Cuisinart but I am hopeful that it will be as it looks very well made.
Pro's: makes excellent coffee and appears to be solidly built. Has all the functions one would expect in a high end coffee maker
Con's: the instructions that come with the coffee could be better written. In particular, unlike every other coffee maker I have ever used, there is a top piece immediately above the coffee pot that must be swung fully to the left or no coffee will be brewed. There is a lever that swings this top piece out. Then, when the coffee makers starts, this top piece automatically returns to the position where most users will probably think it should have been all along. A few reviews make reference to the importance of reading the manual carefully, but none refer specifically to this odd feature of how the coffee maker is operated.
Customer Review: Great filter Summary: 5 StarsKrups 049-33 Gold Tone Filter
A gold filter is a gold filter - they're all good, but I like the Krups filter better because it's deeper, which makes cleaning and handling easier than many others. Part of the entire Krups 10-cup-carafe coffee maker, which is an excellent product.
Customer Review: gold tone filter Summary: 5 StarsThis has changed the way I make coffee now. One its reusable so its GREEN. And two it makes way better coffee than those paper filters hands down.
Everyone should have this!
Customer Review: No good for fine grounds Summary: 1 StarsThis filter seems like a good idea but in practice it allows far too many fine grounds to enter the pot. This drastically changes the flavor of the coffee and makes the last few cups in the pot completely undrinkable. I suppose if I had a burr grinder I could adjust the grind to be less fine but I have a normal spinning blade grinder that has served me well and makes great tasting coffee otherwise.
I am sticking with my Melitta #4 Natural Brown paper filters.
