I've been using this coffee maker for about a year now -- the best feature is that it has a water filter inside of it that purifies the water you pour in, so instead of having to go to my fridge to get filtered water for my coffee, I just pour in tap water and it gets filtered in one easy step. The machine also lets you know when the filter needs changing (it includes an extra filter, and you can buy more from Krups direct, they're fairly inexpensive.) It has a timer, and will automatically shut off the burner so that the coffee never scorches. Great design, too!
Description of Krups 466-71 Crystal Aroma Plus Coffeemaker, White
This big, white behemoth of a coffeemaker filters fine coffee with a flourish. Its technological features are considerable and include a double action water filter that keeps the taste of chlorine from coffee and preserves the machine from calcification. Its "Duo-Filter," which needs replacing about every three months, is vegetable-based and can be thrown in the garbage. Another special Krups feature is a lid designed with an insulating grid over the pour spout that captures drops of coffee and uses them to seal the pot. In most coffeemakers this area is open, allowing the flavor and aroma of waiting coffee to escape. The grid is a nice touch, though the lid can be slightly hard to remove for washing. The water level indicator on the outside of this machine is magnified for easy reading and the carafe is sturdy and pours easily. This coffeemaker also has a "Stop 'n' Serve" feature that lets you pour yourself a cup while the java's still brewing. If there's one feature that will divide people though, it's the machine's design.
