Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Krups 859-70 AquaControl 10-Cup Cordless Electric Kettle, WhiteCustomer Review: Good ergonomics, fast Summary: 5 Stars
Notwithstanding the poor review this kettle got elsewhere here, I went ahead and bought this one since it seemed to have all the features I was looking for. My previous kettle, an old large base, traditional electric had finally self destructed by leaking all over the place. In comparison, the Krups has been a dream kettle. The features that I appreciate include: small footprint, cordless main unit, easy to use controls, shuts off quietly when done boiling (no steam condensing everywhere since the pour spout is closed when heating), good external water level readout, large enough capacity, and fast heating times.
Description of Krups 859-70 AquaControl 10-Cup Cordless Electric Kettle, WhiteWhen company drops in for tea or the family clamors for hot chocolate, the Krups 859-70 AquaControl 10-Cup electric kettle brings 10 cups of water to a boil in minutes. The stainless-steel heating element not only works quickly, it resists mineral buildup inside the kettle. (A filter keeps any mineral flakes that do accumulate from reaching a cup.) The kettle lifts its power base for cordless pouring, and the spout is shaped to prevent drips. One safety feature prevents boiling water from splashing up through the kettle's lid and another shuts the kettle off when water boils or the water level falls too low. Monitoring the water level is easy, because it shows inside a calibrated, transparent tube on the kettle's side. For cleaning, the lid removes with the push of a button. This kettle stands 11 inches high, and its exterior is gleaming plastic. --Fred Brack
