I bought two of these Steam Espresso Maker. They both work great!
I had the last ones (Model 963/A) & (Model Bravo 871) for several years until I upgraded to this machine.
I always like nice hot strong cup of coffee in the morning to wake me up and so does my assistant.
I never use the frothing unit that they have attached..way too much work to clean. Its best to use the (Aerolatte MOOO Milk Frother or Aerolatte To Go, Black) hand held frother that you can find listed on amazon. This is really a great buy for about $10. Makes a perfect froth in just 20 seconds and very easy to clean within a second.
1 cup coffee, 1 cup 2% milk almost to a boil, frothed the 1 cup milk in a Pyrex Prepware 2-Cup Measuring Cup, Blue will makes a perfect cup of coffee. There are other non-traditional ways by using Nestle Carnation Evaporated Milk, 5 fl ozcan slightly heat it and use a hand held frother. Try to be creative you don't need to follow the traditional standard. For a sweetener try Santini Organic Sweetened Condensed Milk, 14-Ounce Can (Pack of 7)
The traditional way heat the 2% milk 145 F degrees. You want to have few large bubbles when you froth the milk so it almost looks like shaving cream. This will blend with the espresso creating harmony of the flavor. You can make it just as good as the coffee shops. Always use good coffee beans of the stronger variety,such as French Roast with a finer grind. Its best to store coffee in an old style glass preserving canning jar with wire bail and glass top. Bormioli Fido Clear Square Canning Jar .75 Liter. The basic rule is the shorter the brew time, the finer the grind. Use some excellent european coffeeLavazza Italian Coffee, Caffe Espresso, 100% Premium Arabica Ground Coffee, 8-Ounce Cans (Pack of 4)using a Cuisinart 4-Piece Stainless-Steel Measuring Spoon Set.Forget paying those high lovely prices at Starbucks you can do it just as good.
Best putting frothed milk in cup first,then slowly adding the hot coffee and add a dash of cinnamon.
The glass carafe can easily break (super fragile) so be very careful with handling it. If it breaks you can substitute it with a 1 cup Pyrex glass measuring cup Pyrex Prepware 1-Cup Measuring Cup, Redthat fits under it exactly or pay for a replacement glass carafe.
I would stay away from Delonghi Coffee Machines those won't last long compared with this Krups model. Some other models made by Krups are not so good.
