Customer Review: A pleasant surprise

I was familiar with the Krups name and was ready to buy - until I saw all the negative reviews on this site. However, after considering the content of the reviews I decided to make the leap and purchase the model.
For reference, I have used drip-style coffeemakers (both basket and cone models) for many years. I like the flavor of coffee produced by cone models better, so this model fit that basic requirement.
We also have had both the glass-pot and thermal-carafe models. In general, I think the glass-pot produces hotter coffee but am amply satisfied with the thermals in general and this model in particular. I drink black, so the coffee is fine. My wife prefers milk in her coffee; I preheat in the microwave so her coffee is appropriately hot. I do not care for the taste of coffee that has been reheated in the microwave, but the thermal carafe on this model keeps the coffee hot for many hours (brew at 4:45am, last cup at 8am).
The coffeemaker has many plastic components; although the components are light-weight, they all seem appropriately constructed. No "plastic" taste; only good coffee from day 1 (I did run water through the coffeemaker twice before making the first pot).
The programmable timer is operated with four buttons; the instructions for programming the clock time, automatic-start timer, and other features were clear. I had to reprogram the coffeemaker yesterday (unplugged so I could make pancakes on the griddle with the same outlet); I didn't have to refer back to the instructions.
In summary, this model had the features I wanted to make a cup of coffee. I was familiar with the manufacturer and trusted that the product would be suitable. The model looks good, works well, and I would recommend to my friends who like good coffee.
