In simple words, you get what you pay for. I am not satisfied with this grinder. The three largest frustrations are: 1) A short power cord, 2) The need to invert the grinder's base to empty the ground coffee, rather than detaching the portion with the ground coffee, and 3) A large amount of coffee sticks to the grinder blade area and it is a messy removal that requires a spoon to scrape the edges. I purchased this while I was in college (around 1990) and have lived with a few other people who had grinders, too. Nothing measures up. It's ellipitcal design means the beans rotate better and stir up, whereas the round ones tend to grind on the bottom with chunks on top. This also has a much larger capacity so you can brew up a very strong pot in a 12 cup maker. And I love that it is STILL $20 after 20 years. In my opinion, nothing compares. Mine FINALLY died last week. The extra Procter Silex grinder I have isn't cutting it, so I plan on ordering a Krups again.Customer Review: a recovering Luddite

as a bit of a Luddite, i've never had any coffee grinder other than the "purist's" hand-crank types which, while they look lovely and old fashioned and use no energy other than human, could wear out your muscle pretty quickly. finally i caved and got this Krups grinder when i was given a five-pound sack of whole beans. Luddite no more -- it's wonderful! takes mere seconds to grind a container full of beans to whatever fineness you wish. takes up almost no space, looks cool, works like a dream, outstanding value for the price.Customer Review: I use it as spice grinder. And it does a wonderful job.

Use to grind Cardamoms, Black pepper, cinnamon and all sorts of spices. Does an excellent job. Only had it a month. Even if it breaks after 10 uses, it would have been well worth the money.
